WHERE IS GOD WHEN THINGS GO WRONG?

WHERE IS GOD WHEN THINGS GO WRONG?

This morning a brother visited my office and he was sharing with me the loss of all his property in the fire that consumed half of the big market ( Owino Market) in our capital city here. This reminded me of my sister also that lost her property in the same fire. We were told that almost 30,000 people lost their properties in that fire which is equivalent to billions of shillings that were lost.

Just a few days ago a kilo of sugar moved from Shs. 2500/= ( $1) to more that Shs.7,000/=($3) and recently I was surprised when I was driving back from upcountry and realized that traffic jams are less than usual. I came to realize that many people leave their cars at home because of the rising of fuel prices.

I do not know what you are going through as an individual, may be you are one of those who lost their property in the fire, may be you lost your loved one recently, may be you have other challenges at home; but what does God say in this kind of situation?

These days I am having a study in the book of Job, I have to confess that it’s not the book that I usually love to read but the book of Job is a book based on reality that even tough things happen to people but God remains God.

So below are few statements I would like to make concerning when things go wrong:

1) God still remains God
God still remains in control, He still remains strong, He still remains loving and still remains caring.

2) God uses that situation for our good.
Romans 8:28
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose”.
It is in those tough days that we learn to depend on God it then that we grow our faith and it is in those tough days that we learn to appreciate the good things we had in the past. We stop taking anything for granted.

3) Tough days make us creative.
There are ideas that come to us in the midst of trouble. In trouble we are forced to think, pray and take big steps of faith.

4) Do not hate God in the midst of trouble but totally surrender your life to Him.
A story is told of a man who saw a vision of God carrying him through tough days. This man in the vision saw two pairs of foot prints and when he reached the very hard place there was only one pair of foot prints, then when they reached the smooth part of the journey, he again saw two pairs of foot prints.
So he complained to God that why did you leave me when I reached the tough grounds, and the Lord said : “where you saw only one pair of foot prints I knew it will be very hard for you so I decided to carry you.”

If you are going through those tough times today, your God will carry you through because He cares for you. Don’t give up; don’t surrender; instead fall in his face in prayer.
Psalms 23: 4
“Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

May God bless you as you go through this week.
