February 21, 2013As we enter the year 2013, I was asking myself what does God want his people to know and how can we succeed in doing God’s will and I felt that God was strongly saying: ‘ It is time to change. Below is summary of what we shared with our people at Gaba Church.
Being inside God’s will is more fulfilling than staying inside our comfort zone would have ever been!
The second person in our discussion is Peter, and the story found in Acts 10: 9-16 Peter finds himself in a place where God wants him to go preach to the Gentiles, people he had never associated with people that eat foods that are forbidden for the Jews, people of a different culture and God says I want you to serve them.
God in his sovereignty, He gave Peter a vision to prepare him for this task. I believe that this year God is preparing us for the new and great changes he wants to do in us in order for us to reach the next level in our lives and ministries.
God did the same to Abraham to help him comprehend his future plans for him. He showed him the stars in the sky.
IV. A POSITIVE ATTITUDE ON CHANGE
The best way to see real change in our lives is for us to be willing and willingness comes with change of attitude.
His promises toward us don’t change. His love for us; His care and concern for us never change and will never change, for eternity to come.
“I the LORD do not change.” – Malachi 3:6 (NIV)
“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” – Hebrews 13:8 (NIV)
“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord.” – Isaiah 54:10 (NIV)
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.”
3. I must be willing to change if God is to use.
When we resist change we rob ourselves of the great things God wants to do in our lives. The changes he wants to do in our lives may involve change of jobs, change of ministry, leaving our present city or village. He may be calling us to go for further training to get new skills and he may be asking us to give up on certain behaviors that are not pleasing to him, whichever area he is calling us to change let us be willing to change.
