Vision has an element of destination
Life is a journey. And because of that, vision is related to seeing where you are going in this life’s journey.
Without a clear vision you will come to the end of your life and wonder, what could have been done and what you should have done.
Andy Stanley says that: “Vision weaves four things into the fabric of our daily experience; passion, motivation, direction and purpose”.
This is a loaded statement and I would like to elaborate on it, in the bullet points below:-
1. Passion
Vision evokes emotion. Vision is always accompanied by strong emotion and the clearer the vision the stronger the emotion.
2. Motivation
Vision provides motivation. Vision driven people are motivated people. Vision is part of why you complete university or college, why you wake up early to go to work. Why people risk their lives.
3. Direction
Vision sets a direction for our lives. It serves as a road map.
People without a clear vision are easily distracted; they have a tendency to drift from one activity or relationship to another. People without a vision do not have a moral compass and so, they often make foolish decisions.
4. Purpose
Vision translates into purpose. A vision gives you the reason to get up in the morning. A vision makes you an important link between the current reality and the future. It gives the resolve to face tough challenges and there is a reason for your being.
Every man has a mission, an assignment and a purpose for his living. Some discover it but others do not. The sooner you discover that purpose the quicker you will get to success in life.
Someone said: “If you have not found something worth dying for, you are not fit to live”.
Look at what Paul said about his God-ordained vision in Galatians 1:15 and 16:
“But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace. To reveal his Sonin me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood”.
God had a purpose for Paul and he has one for you.
Dr. Myles Munroe says; “The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but life without a reason; it is dangerous to be alive and not know why you were given life.”
There is a reason why you exist, and that is why you are not an accident.
Everyone has something God has put him on earth to accomplish. Consider the following examples:
o Nelson Mandela was called to lead South Africa out of apartheid.
o Sir Winston Churchill to lead the UK out of the 2nd world war
o Mother Teresa to wake up the world to the plight of the poor.
o David was a conqueror, but Solomon was a nation builder and consolidator.
o Some of you God has called you to pioneer others to consolidate.
o Some are called to start others to maintain.
o Some are called to discover but others to perfect.
o Some are called in the preaching ministry but others in the supporting ministry.
o Some are called to use their hands while others are called to use their mouth.
o Some are called to travel while others are called to stay.
o Some are called to build while others are called to manage.
o Some are called to drive while others are called to fly.
Each one of us is called to something in this life. Success is realizing what it is and sticking to pursuing that vision.
Listen to what God says in Jeremiah 29:11;
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.
Our purposes originate from God, and it is to God we go to find them out.
