1 Corinthians 2: 6-16
God’s Wisdom Revealed by the Spirit

6We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived— these things God has prepared for those who love him”
10for God has revealed them to us by his Spirit.  The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. 11For who knows a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit within? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. 12We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us. 13This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words. 14The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 15The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, 16for,

“Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?”

But we have the mind of Christ.
I. GOD’S WISDOM VS. MAN’S WISDOM
6We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. 8None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory

Remember these were the Greeks, very academic, very rational, things had to make sense.
Paul says to them, in the Christian world things are different. Your wisdom cannot compete with God’s wisdom.
Remember 1 Corinthians 1: 18For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
·         God is supernatural, his ways are not our ways.
·         He controls and he is in charge, He knows the future, he knows
·         Human wisdom is based on what we have studied. What we have experienced before or taking on the advise of those people we trust. This is great it is important please do not discard it. But there are so many things that you cannot humanly comprehend.

II. GOD HAS A BIG PLAN FOR EACH ONE OF US,
9However, as it is written:
“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived—these things God has prepared for those who love him”—

No human being was born useless.

God had a purpose for our creation; His plan is that my life will be used of God to fulfill his master plan,

His plan is for the whole world will experience the glory of God.
That his influence would fill the earth.

  • “Our Father in heaven,
  • hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven”
  • (Matt. 6:9-10).
For some of you, inside you there is a school that should be established, some of you there is a church that must be planted. Inside some of you, there is a mayor of a city and inside others there is a company that must be started that will provide employment for 100s of people.

THE QUESTION THEN IS:  HOW DO I KNOW GOD’S PLAN?
How do I know which school to go to, the man I am supposed to marry, the place I should plant a church at, the business I should begin. How do I know it is time to leave this place for another.  How do I know this is the right person to work with.
HOW HOW HOW !
WHEN WHEN WHEN!
 WHAT WHAT WHAT!
WHO WHO WHO!

IV. UNDERSTANDING GOD’S PLAN COMES BY REVELATION FROM THE SPIRIT
10for God has revealed them to us by his Spirit.

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God

God has never desired for you to walk grappling in the dark wondering what it is or who it is and when it is.

HOW DOES GOD SPEAK?
1.      God’s Spirit communicates to us through our spirit

2.      Spiritual things do not make sense to unspiritual people

3.      We need to develop a spirit consciousness.

WHY OUR SPIRIT?   IT IS BECAUSE GOD’S SPIRIT RESIDES IN OUR SPIRIT
I am a spirit being, who has a soul and I live in my physical body.
We should therefore allow ourselves to be more spirit conscious than body conscious.
Ø  He speaks to us through the Word. 99.9% of the time God uses his word, even if he uses other means, they have to align with what he says in his word.
Ø  Common sense.
Ø  Godly counsel
Ø  Prophesy visions and dreams.

V. HAVING THE MIND OF CHRIST.

. 15The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, 16for,
“Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?”
But we have the mind of Christ.

Romans 8: 14For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

Makes judgments about all things.   JUDGES, PUTS DECISIONS THROUGH A SCREEN. SCANS, DISCERNS.
He has the Spirit of God. Has trained his/her spirit to hear, to see and to know.
This judgment is not based on how or what you sees physically.
Decisions we make today impact how our tomorrow will look like.

Our decisions are not only for us, they impact the people we are leading and they impact our families today and for the future.
For those of you in high places of leadership your decisions will determine the destiny of many people.
King David decided to count his soldiers out of pride and it led to God’s wrath leading to thousands of people dead.  Recently one young pilot was so frustrated and in a lot of stress, he decided to commit suicide by flying the plane into the alps. His quick foolish decision cost the world the death of 150 people.

HOW DO WE GET THE MIND OF GOD?
·         The Word of God

ROMANS 12: 1-2
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is true worship. 2Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Renewing the mind through the Word. The Word was written by God. In it there is the mind of God.
Reading, memorizing, meditating.
·         Praying in the Spirit.
1 Cor 14:
2For those who speak in a tongue do not speak to other people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit. 4Those who speak in a tongue edify themselves, but those who prophesy edify the church.
·         It is in that moment of worship.
He dwells in the praises of his people.
·         Learning to be still.

Psalms 46:10
10“Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”

Uganda is a country with too much noise. Our music is loud, we pray loud, our weekends are full of noise, from clubs or discos, to police sirens, from advertisers who are trying to sell stuff to us, to the little kiwempe churches next door who use public address systems for prayer to get clients. From Muslim call for prayer to dogs and cocks/ roosters who wake us up.  Then we now have head or ear phones where young people cover their ears with noise blasting music.
God’s mind is in that place, alone with him, where he infuses your mind with his great ideas. It is when you say let me close my doors, shut off the TV and wait on the Lord.
